WHAT’S UP!

Hi, y’all! It’s Abi here, and I would like to tell you all about my plans for after graduation!

After months of prayer, thought, and discussion, I have decided to take a gap year! During this gap year, I will be going on a mission trip with a program called the World Race. I, along with about thirty other recent high school graduates from around the nation, will be spending nine months doing mission work, from August 31, 2024, to May 22, 2025. For the first three months, we will be at the World Race base in Gainesville, Georgia, participating in a training camp. During training, we will cover topics like Our Identity in Christ, The Power of the Holy Spirit, A History of Missions, Understanding Cultural Differences, Sharing the Gospel, Living in Christian Community, and more. This will be both a time of teaching and a time of being physically and mentally prepared for our mission experience! After this, we will go to Guatemala, then South Africa, Eswatini, and Indonesia.

In these countries, I will be staying at specifically World Race bases, serving in countless different ways alongside my squad throughout each week. Some of these ways include teaching English in schools, hanging out with kids during after-school programs, helping with projects around the community, and spreading the Gospel in different communities and churches. I am so, so excited that God has given me this unique opportunity to go out and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19)! I am hoping that, through this year of missionary work, God will grow me spiritually in unimaginable ways, giving me a heart to love all of the beautiful people He has put on this earth and to gain new perspectives that I wouldn’t have otherwise!

For me to embark on this life-changing trip, I will need to raise 17,500 dollars. Yes, at first this sounds like a lot, but it will cover all the expenses I will be encountering over the trip. This includes international flights, lodging, meals, transportation, and much more.
